Our Story

Chef and owner Rizart Bylyshi immigrated to the U.S.A. with his wife Matilda in search of a better life in 2000. After working in the restaurant industry for over 10 years in positions of increasing responsibility, he eventually worked his way up from server to manager in West Hartford’s landmark Gold Roc Diner. For years, Bylyshi had dreamt of owning his own place and in 2022, he got his chance. The previous owner of Al’s Best Pizza was looking to sell and Rizart jumped at the opportunity.

“Working for myself has always been a dream of mine and I’ve been blessed with great employees in this town we call Woodbury, CT. Our customers are the best and when they come in to get their food, with a smile on their face, I know I’m doing something right.”

The most popular items on the menu include the Chicken Bacon Ranch BBQ Pizza (mozzarella, chicken cutlet & bacon, drizzled with ranch & BBQ sauce), Al’s Best Special Pizza (spinach, feta, light garlic, chopped tomatoes, olive oil, mozzarella & romano – no sauce), Meat Lovers Pizza (Pepperoni, sausage, bacon & meatballs) and Everything Pizza (Mushrooms, onions, peppers, bacon, pepperoni, meatballs & sausage).

Rizart’s favorite pizza is topped with prosciutto & goat cheese and while pizza is the star of the show, people order everything on the menu. Stop in for a slice, a whole pie or one of our fantastic pasta dinners – we can’t wait to serve you!
